About Valura.Ai
Valura.Ai is a regulated global-investing platform. We let Indian and UAE investors put money to work outside their home market: US equities and ETFs under LRS through our IFSCA-regulated GIFT City entity (Valura India IFSC Private Limited), global funds through our marketplace, and curated thematic baskets built in-house.
We are AI-native by design. Research at Valura is not a slide factory. Our analysts build the investable products themselves, sit next to engineers, and see their work go live in a product used by real investors and by the brokers, MFDs and wealth firms who distribute through us.
The role
You will be the person who decides what goes into our portfolios and why, and who can defend it to a client, a partner, or a regulator. Concretely, you will:
Build and maintain investable products
1. Research, construct and rebalance our thematic and factor baskets: universe definition, screening, scoring, weighting, and the rules that govern turnover.
1. Write the investment case for each basket and each holding, in language an ordinary investor can read.
1. Track live performance and attribution, and be honest and early about what is not working.
Run due diligence on third-party funds and products
1. Assess UCITS funds, ETFs and other global products we consider listing: strategy, manager, costs, liquidity, tracking, tax treatment, and the operational plumbing behind them.
1. Read the source documents properly (KID, factsheet, supplement, prospectus, NAV series) and reconcile the marketing numbers against the underlying data. Discrepancies get flagged, not smoothed over.
1. Own the fund data that our product pages render, so nothing on the platform is a hardcoded guess.
Cover markets and produce client-facing research
1. Maintain coverage on US and global equities, sectors, and the macro that moves them: rates, dollar, oil, flows.
1. Produce our recurring content: market notes, partner newsletters, thematic deep dives, and the research that sits behind client conversations.
1. Every number you publish carries a source. We would rather ship a shorter note than an unsourced one.
Work with data and with our AI stack
1. Use Morningstar, FMP and our internal data services to screen, backtest and stress ideas.
1. Work in spreadsheets fluently, and in Python where a spreadsheet stops being honest.
1. Help train and sanity-check the research surfaces of our in-house AI assistant, and use AI tools aggressively in your own workflow. We expect you to know where they help and where they quietly make things up.
Support distribution and compliance
1. Answer the hard questions from partner brokers, MFDs and RIAs, and from our own sales and support teams.
1. Keep everything we publish inside IFSCA and SEBI research and marketing rules: no personalised advice, disclosures where they belong, and a clean audit trail from claim to source.
What the first 90 days look like
1. Days 1 to 30: Learn the product end to end, including how an order actually reaches the market and how the ledger books it. Take over the recurring market note. Rebuild one existing basket’s screen from scratch and tell us where you disagree with it.
1. Days 31 to 60: Own due diligence on one live fund or product under evaluation, from source documents to a written recommendation.
1. Days 61 to 90: Ship one new basket or research product of your own, with the thesis, the screen, the weighting logic, and the client-facing write-up.
What we are looking for
Required
1. 1 to 4 years in equity research, fund research, investment or portfolio management, wealth advisory, or a comparable analytical seat. Strong candidates straight out of a top programme with real research output will be considered.
1. Genuine fluency with financial statements and valuation. You can build a model, and you know which line items to distrust.
1. Advanced Excel or Google Sheets. Comfort with Python (pandas), or a willingness to get there fast, because a lot of our work does not fit in a sheet.
1. Clear written English. Our research is read by clients, not just by other analysts.
1. Intellectual honesty. You separate what you know from what you believe, and you change your mind when the data does.
Nice to have
1. CFA (any level), NISM Series XV (Research Analyst), or an equivalent credential.
1. Exposure to US markets, ETFs, UCITS funds, or cross-border investing (LRS, GIFT City, DIFC/ADGM).
1. Experience with factor investing, portfolio construction, or systematic screening.
1. Working knowledge of SQL, or of a data vendor API (Morningstar, FMP, Bloomberg, Refinitiv).
1. Familiarity with IFSCA, SEBI or UAE (SCA/DFSA) marketing and research rules.
1. Arabic or a second Indian language, for our UAE and partner-facing content.
Who this is not for
1. Someone who wants a pure sell-side note-writing seat with no product ownership.
1. Someone who wants to give stock tips. We are a regulated platform, not a tipping service.
How we hire
1. Application review: CV plus a research sample, see below.
1. Screening call: 30 minutes on your background, and on what you actually did versus what your team did.
1. Take-home: a short, real research exercise. We tell you the deadline up front, and we do not need it to be beautiful. We need it to be right and sourced.
1. Technical round: we take your take-home apart with you, and add a live case.
1. Final round: with the founders, on judgement, ownership and fit.
We aim to close the whole process within two to three weeks.
How to apply
Send the following to careers@valura.ai with the subject line "Research Analyst - <your name>":
1. Your CV.
1. One research sample of your own: a stock note, a fund review, a thematic piece, a backtest, even a well-argued blog post. Two pages is plenty. If it is not yours alone, say clearly which parts are.
1. Three or four sentences on one global stock, sector or theme you think is mispriced right now, and why. This is the part we read first.
Compensation is competitive and calibrated to experience, with an equity component for the right person.
Valura is an equal opportunity employer. We hire on evidence of ability, and we welcome applicants from any background.
